So today, my boyfriend asked me to formal in the cutest way I couldve ever imagined. I mean, it’s one of those surprises where every little thing was significantly relevant to our relationship.

I was texting him and asking him to come to my New Years Party, but right as he texted me that he couldnt make it, a paper airplane suddenly flew in front of me and lightly landed on the desk in front of me. I looked up at the door to see him leaning against the wall, just like in Jason Chen’s Music Video to “Best Friend!” (Which might I add is a song that completely describes our whole best-friendship/relationship, so if you haven’t watched it, then you probably won’t understand). He’s been my best friend for a long time prior to our relationship, so the song has always been one of our alltime favorites! I opened up the paper airplane and it read “Formal?” For some reason, I wanted to cry and bawl my eyes out. It’s just that the whole surprise was unexpected, touching, and heartwarming. To me, it wasn’t just one of those hold-up-a-posterboard-that-says-formal-on-it type surprises. I felt as if.. this surprise had an extreme significance and loving thought put into it.

Today was also the first time a boy has ever pulled the “roses and chocolates” move on me..I was never a fan of the whole flower-giving and chocolate box romances, until it happened to me. Now all I find myself wanting to do is tend to the roses, and make sure they never wilt. As for the chocolates, he gave me Lindt chocolates, which are my fafafafavorite. But I havent eaten any in a long time because I a l w a y s give it to him whenever I have some, cause yeah, I’m such a nice gf, yaknow. So I’m gonna grub on all of the chocolates and splurge into my inner fattie.

He also gave me this peach colored peacoat jacket that I thought was really pretty. Not too shabby for a guy shopping for a girl! And he also gave me this reallly really realllly pretty jewelry box that says “I fell in love with my best friend” from Jason Chen’s lyrics to “Best Friend.” And when I opened the jewelry box, it had a beautiful heart necklace that says “With Love” and his name on the back. I’m going to take such good care of it. It really means a lot to me. I sealed his surprise with an unexpected ‘thank you’ kiss, gotta love those.

Anyways… Will Chen, you’ve been my best friend for such a long time prior to our relationship. You’ve heard all my love stories and helped me through my heartbreaks, likewise, I have been there for you too. Now we’re making our own love stories and are now capable of breaking each other’s hearts. I remember how scared we were to make this jump. We were so scared to tell each other how we felt for each other because we had such a beautiful friendship that we were risking to lose. It was hard for me to transition from best friend to lover, and I made you suffer through that. I’m so happy you pulled through patiently. And honestly, I never thought we’d be in this position; I thought we’d be best friends forever. I was right. Even if we gained the “couple” label, you’ll always be my best friend, no matter what. Nothing will ever change that.
